Please welcome IACD’s Youth Correspondent for Kenya, Wanja Kiongo!

This spring, IACD created a new role for younger people in our association who would like to be more involved. This role is very similar to the role of Country Correspondent but is reserved for our members under 30.  Our Youth Correspondents are interested in helping the association reach out to students and younger workers to join the association and to play a role within IACD in representing younger workers and students interests.

Please welcome our newest Youth Correspondent, Wanja Kiongo! Here is a bit about Wanja in her own words:

” My name is Wanja Kiongo. I am 19 year old student from Kenya pursuing a BSc in Community Development at Chuka University. I am passionate about community development particularly in matters pertaining to sustainable development and reaching out to vulnerable communities and children. I love writing, networking as well as engaging myself in volunteer work.

Due to my passion for volunteering I was selected to be a volunteer at Community Development Watch (CODEWA), a nongovernmental organization based in Tanzania, in June 2018 to date. I am part of the Emerging Leaders Project, Chuka University, a program under AkiliDada which offers mentorship and leadership skills to young female university students. I am also the assistant coordinator of the Africa Youth Leadership Forum (AYLF), Kenya Chapter, at Chuka University.

I look forward to being a youth correspondent at IACD and help reach out to students and the youth, most especially in Kenya to join IACD. I would also be delighted to represent their interests at IACD.”

If you are a member of IACD and under 30, please consider applying for this role. You can send your bio and photograph to IACD’s Membership Secretary via membership@iacdglobal.org
