Having successfully negotiated an International definition for community development and International Standards for Community Development Practice, the Board has set up a Working Party to look at the whole issue of course endorsement and accreditation.

To this end, the Working Party convened by Anna Clarke, is researching and discussing the issue of the accreditation of community development-type education programmes across different disciplines. There is currently no international accreditation system for community development type education programmes, and so no standard way for graduates of these programs to have their education recognised in other countries. Some countries have ways in which programmes are recognised or accredited and these are being studied by the committee. But in most countries no such systems exist. What can we learn from countries that do have national ways of recognising courses to share more widely? And what role might IACD play as the international professional body?

A report will be presented to the special board retreat in June 2019 and will be shared to this site at a later date.
