IACD’s Country and Youth Correspondents play a vital role in connecting our members with the most up-to-date information on best practices, trends, and happenings in their regions.

Current Plans

Please note that that in autumn 2020, IACD paused the Country and Youth Correspondents program to evaluate these roles. The review of these roles was commissioned within the context of our new strategic plan and sits alongside other areas that we are reconsidering.

In light of these this review, and taking into consideration the need for new thinking in relation to our future strategic direction the Board has taken the decision to discontinue the roles of Country and Youth Correspondents.

The Board wants to acknowledge and express our sincere thanks to Michelle Dunscombe, one of our most active members and advocates, and a long-standing Country Correspondent who in recent years voluntarily undertook to convene networking opportunities for Country and Youth Correspondents and managed a WhatsApp group. Michelle’s contribution to IACD was publicly recognised earlier this year at our AGM with an Outstanding Contribution Award.

COUNTRY CORRESPONDENT HISTORY

Country Correspondents were responsible for posting news about Community Development and Development issues in their Country on the IACD members Facebook page, and for promoting IACD in their Country and encouraging colleagues to join the IACD community.

YOUTH CORRESPONDENT HISTORY

In 2018 IACD introduced an additional role within the association, Youth Representatives.

Youth Correspondents were responsible for representing the voice of young people (including students), within IACD, and through the organisation internationally. Similar to Country Correspondents, their role was to also encourage young colleagues to join the IACD community.
