Focus on Mental Health: the January 2020 Community Development Alliance Scotland Special Bulletin

Community Development and Mental Health

The third United National Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) focuses on good health and well-being — and this includes good mental health.

On 10th October, we highlighted International Mental Health Day and the progress that’s being made on the third SDG. In November, we celebrated Movember and looked at issues surrounding suicide and mental health.

Supporting the Mental Health of our Communities

The Community Development Alliance Scotland releases a bulletin every month examining issues and news in the world of community development. This month, the focus is squarely on mental health and supporting the good mental health of communities.

You can access this month’s bulletin by clicking here, and you can sign up to receive the monthly bulletin directly in your inbox here.

Colette McGarva, IACD Regional Director for Europe and coordinator of CDAS has this to say about the January bulletin:

This month’s special bulletin raises awareness of the contribution our membership organisations make to supporting mental health in Scotland and beyond. We will highlight various events, opportunities and good practice and will signpost to various organisations who provide support throughout Scotland.

January’s third Monday, ” Blue Monday” is thought to be the most depressing day of the year. What are you doing to nurture your mental health and the mental health of your friends, family and communities?
