Practice Insights provides an opportunity for members and invited writers to share their work. We have published special issues on such themes as poverty, empowerment and most recently the contribution of community development in addressing the SDGs. The magazine is peer reviewed, and is intended for the busy practitioner, scholar and policy adviser, so articles are not written in an academic style. Most articles are between 1000-1500 words and we always include illustrations. We are keen to encourage IACD members and other invited authors, to write for our magazine. The magazine is in English and as part of the review process, we can assist authors whose first language is not English. We have been asked many times whether Practice Insights is peer reviewed and the answer is yes. At least two external people look at each article. Practice Insights is not however intended to be an academic journal, but rather a practitioner magazine. There are over a dozen academic community development journals around the world and, as IACD members will know, we have had a longstanding relationship with the international Community Development Journal (CDJ) published by Oxford University Press.
