Volume 2 of The Making of an Empowering Profession is now out edited by Colin Ross.
For the past eighteen years, IACD has had its HQ in Scotland. Scotland has a long tradition of governmental and non-governmental investment in community development and community education. In 2001 these two streams of professional development were brought together under the banner of community learning and development. These two books trace the emergence of community development and education policy and practice in Scotland since the mid 1970s.
The first volume was brought together by Charlie McConnell, who at the time was the Secretary General (later President) of IACD. Charlie writes the Preface to the second volume, edited by Colin Ross.
