Community development can be messy sometimes but it’s worth the work you put in.

A film from The Calgary Foundation, Canada.

Community development is working with individuals, communities and systems. It means reaching out and supporting people to reach their goals, building relationships and advocacy. Basically developing and redeveloping communities that have been disenfranchised. Community developers help people realise their potential and capacity. Community development can be messy sometimes but it’s worth the work you put in.

The approaches mentioned in this video include holistic, self-sustainability Asset based community development and organisations that use a stake holder system to develop their community based on the community needs.

The video is very descriptive and explains how some of the organisations work which provides a clear picture of multiple grassroots approaches of community development.
