Appointment as Chair of IACD
It is with utmost humility that I assume the role of Chair of the International Association for Community Development (ACD). I am greatly honoured and equally recognise the huge trust placed upon me by the IACD Board of Trustees and membership. As I congratulate the other new officials, Holly Scheib (Vice Chair) and Ciara Shanahan (Secretary), let us recognise and thank Anna Clarke (outgoing Chair and now IACD Strategic Director) and Michelle Dunscombe (outgoing Vice Chair) for their great service to IACD.
IACD, in its over 70 years occupies a place of pride in promoting the discipline and practice of community development as evidenced by accreditation with the United Nations and a global membership - if not a member, join us - https://www.iacdglobal.org/member
We assume IACD leadership at a time of global uncertainties which impact not only IACD as an organization; the discipline and practice of community development but also the communities we work with. A re-set is therefore imperative to deepen horizontal and vertical engagement, diversify professional development offerings and build more partnerships, among others.
We therefore count on the support and goodwill of all us in IACD (trustees, membership and staff), and our partners, working as one, to make IACD, more responsive, impactful and sustainable as a voice and agency of the discipline and practice of community development globally. This is because, "We are one".
