In this session of the IACD Global Community Development Researchers’ Forum Meeting (recorded April 20, 2026), Barbara Leigh Golden and Lisa Lalonde (Algonquin College, Canada) share their research on making early learning spaces more inclusive.

They discuss using Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+)—an analytical process that examines how intersecting identities like race, age, and disability impact people's experiences—and developmental bibliotherapy to foster inclusion. They also introduce a free family-inclusive assessment tool and present their current work on licensing childcare programs within women’s shelters to expand children's rights to quality care.
