Join us on 20 April for the next meeting of the IACD Global Community Development Researchers’ Forum, featuring Barbara Leigh Golden and her colleague Lisa Lalonde from Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology (Canada). 

Barbara and Lisa will share insights from their innovative work making early learning spaces more inclusive using the GBA+ framework and developmental bibliotherapy, including a free gender- and family-inclusive assessment tool co-developed with community partners and childcare centres.

This year, their research focuses on licensing childcare programs within women’s shelters to provide children living in these environments with the same access to high-quality early learning and care as other children in the community. Supported by federal funding from Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) and Women and Gender Equality Canada, their participatory action research examines how collaborative initiatives can remove systemic barriers and expand children’s rights to education and care.
