Change through Culture Approach for Community Development

Mamadou Coulibaly is the Program Manager for Grandmother Project-Change through Culture in Senegal. His training is Development Project Management, and Monitoring and Evaluation. He is passionate about community work and loves spending time in staying with communities. He has broad experience in the community development practice in the domains of adult education, community health, education and child protection, as well as facilitation of activities in and with communities.

This presentation will delve into how to ground programs in local culture; recognise and involving elders (especially grandmothers) in projects; strengthen inter-generational communication, as well as formal and informal leaders’ skills and commitment to development of their communities; and lastly use of communication and education methods for dialogue and consensus-building.
