Message from Anna Clarke, IACD President
As a global network for community development practitioners, IACD’s Board has representation from all the global regions. We can have up to 20 Directors on the Board, elected at our AGM which is held every June. IACD is a small organisation, with just one part-time member of staff. Much of IACDs work is done by the Directors so it’s important that anyone joining the Board is willing and committed to getting actively involved in the organisation’s work. Directors responsibilities include; attending 4-5 Board meetings per year (via Zoom), joining at least 2 of our committees that are responsible for implementing actions in our Strategic Plan, representing and promoting IACD at local and regional events, gathering local and regional information about CD practice and feeding that back to our Administrator/Membership Secretary to update and share through our website and social media outlets, helping with organising global conferences, practice exchanges, fundraising and contributing to our magazine Practice Insights. IACD Directors have plenty to do and must be willing to take on roles and actions.
There are plenty of rewards too! Sharing new ideas and collaborating on building impactful community development practice. Being involved with IACD is like being part of a global family and you will form friendships that will last a lifetime.
Currently, we have some vacancies on the Board and are inviting expressions of interest from active members in the following regions: East Asia, South East Asia, South Asia, Middle East and North Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean Islands. If you would be interested in finding out more about the role – please get in touch by emailing anna.clarke@iacdglobal.org and membership@iacdglobal.org by Monday, 11th May 2020. We will invite those who have indicated their interest to complete a short application process outlining their background and experience in community development. We are also looking to hear from you about what you feel you can contribute to the work of IACD. The deadline for completed applications is Monday, 25th May 2020.
