‘We are facing a learning crisis’, UN chief warns on International Youth Day

This week, IACD is featuring news about young people and community development.

The UN’s Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) gave a stark assessment of recent statistics that showed how much more work there is to be done in the education sector: “…only 10% of people have completed upper secondary education in low income countries; 40% of the global population is not taught in a language they speak or fully understand; and over 75% of secondary school age refugees are out of school.”
