Building IACD in Africa – Report from the Directors’ meeting in October

In mid October 2017, IACD’s Africa Board members and correspondents met in Entebbe to look at how to build up the association and its relevance across Africa. The meeting looked at a wide range of issues. (A note of the meeting can be found here  https://www.iacdglobal.org/regions/sub-saharan-africa/

The Directors decided to work on developing a policy declaration on IACD and community development in Africa. The last Declaration was published in Yaunde- Cameroon ten years ago. It was agreed to set up a working group for this and aim to publish it sometime in 2018.

The meeting also agreed to work on hosting an IACD Africa Practice Exchange in 2019. A planning group has been set up to identify the host country/ies. A proposal will then be considered by the IACD Training and Professional Development Committee which oversees the planning of all IACD Practice Exchanges.

Finally the meeting updated on articles received to date for Africa Special Issue of the IACD magazine Practice Insights, which will be published in April 2018.
