June 28, 2017

Greetings IACD Members,

I am pleased to announce our 2017 Annual General Meeting will be Wednesday 9th August at 6am London Time (use this time zone converter to find your local time: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html).

Call-in details

We will be using Zoom as the call-in platform for this and any other AGM meeting, moving forward.  An invitation will be emailed to you separately and there is a link within the invitation that will allow you to access the meeting.  Here is a link that shows instructions on how to join a Zoom meeting: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362193-How-Do-I-Join-A-Meeting-. We will include this link again in the Zoom invitation email, so that you have everything you need on the day.  Should a password be required, please enter: IACD.

Among the items on the agenda is the important task of electing members to serve on our IACD Board.  The IACD is governed by an international Board of Directors of up to 14 elected members and up to 6 additional co-opted members. Board members are elected at the annual general meeting, or can be co-opted by the Board if it feels it requires additional expertise. Any IACD member may stand for the Board. Board terms are for three years and may be extended a further two three year terms. Nominations are now open for membership of the IACD Board with appointment from August 2017. The Board meets quarterly on a ‘virtual’ basis. It is hoped that once a year the Board meeting will coincide with one of IACD’s international conferences. Board members are also expected to serve on one of the association’s committees or working groups. You can find more information on the role of the committee on the Governance Page of this website https://www.iacdglobal.org/governance/.  We have vacancies for the following regions:

Europe – Two vacancies

North America – One Vacancy

South America – One Vacancy

Middle East and North Africa – One Vacancy

East Asia – One Vacancy

South Asia – One Vacancy

South East Asia – One Vacancy

The existing Board will consider all nominations in accordance with our equal opportunities and diversity policy.  Only fully paid up members of the association can be nominated (or can self-nominate) for these vacant positions. Members may only stand for the global region where they either live or work.  On your nomination paper, we require the following information:

Name of nominee

Address

E mail address

Contact phone number (please include the international code)

Global region you are seeking to represent e.g Europe

A brief paragraph or two on your community development expertise and work.

A brief paragraph or two on what expertise you would bring to the Board e.g fundraising, advocacy, organising events.  Please submit your nomination paper no later than 31st July 2017 to me paul.lachapelle@montana.edu.

We will also be discussing a number of items related to our Plan of Work for the year including details of our upcoming 2018 World Community Development Conference, 24-27 June, Maynooth University, Kildare, Ireland and our Practice Exchange in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, 11-19 October, 2017. In addition, we will be discussing our Auditor’s Report and Annual Account’s Report which will posted on our Google Drive soon:
