I have great pleasure in inviting you to IACD’s Annual General Meeting, which will take place during the 2011 International Conference on Community Development in Lisboa, Portugal. The theme of the conference is ‘Transformational leadership and empowering communities’. Our organisation is guided by our membership and this conference and the AGM come at an exciting time for the association and its members, and for community development worldwide. If we wish to promote more empowering communities we must start from the inside out. A transformational leader seeks and promotes change. He or she fosters new leaders, not just followers. This is the challenge for IACD and its members. I look forward to welcoming you to Lisboa.
The AGM will take place from 12:15 to 13:30 on Friday 8th July, at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisboa. Please register for this meeting on your arrival at the conference.

By applying to become an IACD Board member you are offering to take on an important voluntary position, with significant responsibilities and commitments to the promotion of community development in your own region and internationally.
