Over the last year, IACD East Asia Director Kwok Kin Fung has delivered talks on globalization and community development in cities across China. KK has also been raising awareness of sustainable community development and community development policies. He has introduced the IACD to several hundred university teachers, social workers in community work settings, students and government officials. The cities covered include Hangzhou (Zhejiang Province), Suzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan and Shenzhen (Guangzhou Province) and Hong Kong. This profile raising work has also included gathering together articles for the recent East Asian Special Issue of our magazine Practice Insights. Kwok Kin Fung
Dr. Fung is Regional Director – Asia. He is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Social Work, Hong Kong Baptist University. At present, his teaching and research work is on areas of community development, social policy, globalization and social welfare, and child poverty. In addition, he has also been actively involved in community development projects in Hong Kong including offering consultancy services and training to community development services and social workers in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Kwok Kin chairs the Publications Committee.
