On 15 June 2026, IACD hosted a meeting of the Global Community Development Researchers’ Forum with the research team from UISCE, Ireland’s National Advocacy Service for People who Use Drugs.

The session explored the value of peer-led, community development approaches in research, advocacy and service development with people who use drugs (PWUD).

Drawing on UISCE’s rights-based and community-led practice, the discussion highlighted the importance of moving beyond consultation towards genuine participation, co-production and empowerment, while centring lived experience and ensuring the voices of PWUD are heard in decisions that affect their lives. 🤝
