IACD’s Global Handbook for Community Development
Thank you to all parties who have submitted a 200-word abstract for case studies for IACD’s Global Handbook for Community Development. We greatly appreciate your submissions.
We are currently developing an International Community Development Handbook for practitioners, with a target publication date of June 2021. We are inviting community development practitioners worldwide, who are using community development approaches in their work with communities to register interest in contributing case studies for inclusion in the publication.
Have you got an example of good community development practice to highlight? Have you been faced with a challenge in your community work that you would like to share with other practitioners? Can other practitioners learn from your experience? We are particularly keen to hear from practitioners across all global regions, working with diverse groups and communities, in rural and urban settings and exploring and seeking to address some of the key social and economic challenges currently experienced in communities.
The Handbook will feature chapters focussing on the key themes within the IACD International Standards for Community Development practice. We are now inviting expressions of interest for contributions around the following thematic areas of practice:
- Putting community development ethics and values into practice;
- Engaging with communities;
- Ensuring participatory planning;
- Organising for change;
- Learning for change;
- Promoting diversity and inclusion;
- Building leadership and infrastructure;
- Developing and improving policy and practice.
If you are interested in contributing case study material to any of the above themes, please send us an initial 200 word outline of your story – location and some background context. Please make sure you indicate the theme your practice story relates to.
Send your expression of interest to info@iacdglobal.org by 30th July 2020.
We will respond to everyone who submits an expression of interest to follow up for more detail. If we are unable to use some material in the Handbook, we will explore with you how we might be able to share your story with practitioners through our newsletter, website or Practice Insights magazine.
