World Environment Day June 5th

IACD supports World Environment Day and encourages all members to highlight the importance of the Day through your work in both urban and rural communities.

World Environment Day (WED) is the biggest, most globally celebrated day for positive environmental action.  Through WED, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) enables everyone to realise not only the responsibility to care for the Earth, but also reminds one and all of their individual power to become agents of change. Every action counts, and when multiplied by a global chorus, becomes exponential in its impact.

Each World Environment Day is organised around a theme that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental concern. The theme for 2017 is “connecting people to nature”. The theme for World Environment Day 2017, implores us to get outdoors and into nature, to appreciate its beauty and its importance, and to take forward the call to protect the Earth that we share.
